Hope Is Here: Spirit-Led Hope: Luke 2:25-35

I CAN FIND REAL HOPE WHEN…

1. I am Filled with the Spirit

There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel’s consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
Luke 2:25 (CSB)

And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18 (CSB)

I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.
Galatians 5:16-17 (CSB)

2. I am Guided by the Spirit

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord’s Messiah.  Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for him what was customary under the law.
Luke 2:26-27 (CSB)

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.
John 14:26 (CSB)

3. I am Used by the Spirit

Simeon took him up in his arms, praised God, and said,29 Now, Master, you can dismiss your servant in peace, as you promised. 30 For my eyes have seen your salvation. 31 You have prepared it in the presence of all peoples— 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to your people Israel.33 His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and told his mother Mary, “Indeed, this child is destined to cause the fall and rise of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be opposed— 35 and a sword will pierce your own soul—that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
Luke 2:28-35 (CSB)

1. Staying Faithful

She did not leave the temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayers. 38 At that very moment, she came up and began to thank God and to speak about him to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
Luke 2:37-38 (CSB)

2. Serving God

She did not leave the temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayers. 38 At that very moment, she came up and began to thank God and to speak about him to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

Change My Heart: You Got It Backwards: Genesis 48:1-33

1. God’s Blessing Come Through Grace

Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me. 4 He said to me, ‘I will make you fruitful and numerous; I will make many nations come from you, and I will give this land as a permanent possession to your future descendants.’
Genesis 48:3-4 (CSB)

2. God’s Blessings Revive Dead Things

Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face again, but now God has even let me see your offspring.”
Genesis 48:11 (CSB)

3. God’s Blessings Can Rewrite Your Future

Then Joseph took them both—with his right-hand Ephraim toward Israel’s left, and with his left-hand Manasseh toward Israel’s right—and brought them to Israel. 14 But Israel stretched out his right hand and put it on the head of Ephraim, the younger, and crossing his hands, put his left on Manasseh’s head, although Manasseh was the firstborn. 15 Then he blessed Joseph and said: The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, 16 the angel who has redeemed me from all harm— may he bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow to be numerous within the land. 17 When Joseph saw that his father had placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head, he thought it was a mistake and took his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s.
Genesis 48:10-17 (CSB)

Change My Heart: Break Ups and Make Ups: Genesis 33

4 Steps to Mending Broken Relationships

1. Humility

He himself went on ahead and bowed to the ground seven times until he approached his brother.
Genesis 33:3 (CSB)

2. Forgiveness

But Esau ran to meet him, hugged him, threw his arms around him, and kissed him. Then they wept.
Genesis 33:4 (CSB)

And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
Ephesians 4:32 (CSB)

3. Restitution

He spent the night there and took part of what he had brought with him as a gift for his brother Esau:14 two hundred female goats, twenty male goats, two hundred ewes, twenty rams, 15 thirty milk camels with their young, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys, and ten male donkeys. 16 He entrusted them to his slaves as separate herds and said to them, “Go on ahead of me, and leave some distance between the herds.”
Genesis 32:13-16 (CSB)

4. Reconciliation

But Jacob said, “No, please! If I have found favor with you, take this gift from me. For indeed, I have seen your face, and it is like seeing God’s face, since you have accepted me. 11 Please take my present that was brought to you, because God has been gracious to me and I have everything I need.” So Jacob urged him until he accepted.12 Then Esau said, “Let’s move on, and I’ll go ahead of you.”
Genesis 33:10-12 (CSB)

If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:18 (CSB)

He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (CSB)
