Tell Me Something Good: Jesus Blows My Mind Part 2: Colossians 1:18-23

Jesus is my…

1) Liberator – He sets me free
2) Reflector – He helps me see the heart of God
3) Creator – He made me with purpose
4) Sustainer – He holds me together

Jesus is my…

5) Leader – He guides me

He is also the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything.
Colossians 1:18 (CSB)

6) Filler – He fills me

For God was pleased [to have] all His fullness dwell in Him…
Colossians 1:19 (CSB)

For every one of God’s promises is “Yes” in him. Therefore, through him we also say “Amen” to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20 (CSB)

7) Reconciler – He reconnects me

…and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Colossians 1:20 (CSB)

So What…

But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.
Colossians 1:23 (NLT)

Tell Me Something Good: Grateful & Prayerful: Colossians 1:14-17

Christ is my…

1. Liberator – He sets me free.

In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:14 (CSB)

2. Reflector – He helps me see the heart of God.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Colossians 1:15 (CSB)

3. Creator – He designed me for a specific purpose.

…the firstborn over all creation.
Colossians 1:15 (CSB)

For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him.
Colossians 1:16 (CSB)

4. Sustainer – He holds me together.

He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:17 (CSB)

Tell Me Something Good: Thankful & Prayerful: Colossians 1:1-14

Three Gratitude Goals

1.   I Should Be Grateful Beyond My Circumstances

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints 5 because of the hope reserved for you in heaven.
Colossians 1:3-5 (CSB)

2. I Should Be Grateful for the Growth of the Gospel

You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel 6 that has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and came to truly appreciate God’s grace.
Colossians 1:5-6 (CSB)

3. I Should be grateful for Godly leadership

You learned this from Epaphras, our dearly loved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, and he has told us about your love in the Spirit.
Colossians 1:7-8 (CSB)

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
Colossians 1:9 (CSB)

Colossians 1:10 (CSB)

Colossians 1:10 (CSB)

4) Grow in Knowledge

…so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God…
Colossians 1:10 (CSB)

being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully.
Colossians 1:11 (CSB)
